★★★★☆

“I am not really a fan of protein powder, but the texture was good. The Salted Caramel is ok. The Vanilla I mixed with Milo and it was quite nice. The chocolate sample I had was not to my liking. To be fair, I don’t usually like any of the chocolate protein powders.”

Good to know

Do women need a different protein powder?

Not usually. Protein powders sold "for women" are often the same as other powders with different packaging or marketing. What matters is the label: protein per serve, sugar, ingredients and whether you enjoy the taste. Women's protein needs differ at different life stages, so it's worth knowing the basics.

Compare labels, not marketing

Check protein per 100g, sugar, sweeteners and ingredients rather than pink packaging or "for her" claims.

Needs change over time

Protein needs are higher during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and often higher for older women. Speak to your doctor or dietitian.

A top-up, not a replacement

Powder can top up protein from food. It doesn't replace a varied diet.

How much?

How much protein do women generally need?

Australian guidelines suggest about 0.75g of protein per kg of body weight a day for adult women. Needs are higher during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and are often higher for older women and for people who train regularly. Here is the baseline in grams. This is general information, not personal advice.

Body weight Baseline at 0.75g per kg One serve of Green Choice provides
55 kg About 41g 34.9g to 35.3g
65 kg About 49g 34.9g to 35.3g
75 kg About 56g 34.9g to 35.3g

Many women reach these amounts from food alone. A powder is a convenient top-up for busy days, higher needs or smaller appetites, not a requirement. Read more in our guide to protein powder for women: how to choose one that actually suits you.

Nutrients

What a protein powder doesn't cover

A protein powder supplies protein, not a full vitamin and mineral profile. On a vegan diet, women often discuss these nutrients with a GP or dietitian:

  • Vitamin B12. Found mainly in animal foods, so vegans usually need a fortified food or supplement. Our powder isn't a B12 supplement.
  • Iron and zinc. Plant sources are absorbed differently from animal sources.
  • Calcium, iodine and vitamin D. Matter for bone and thyroid health, especially without dairy.
  • Omega-3. Our powder has 231mg of ALA per serve from Australian linseed. ALA is not EPA or DHA.

Always check with your doctor or an accredited practising dietitian, especially if you're pregnant, breastfeeding or have a health condition. See also our vegan protein supplements guide and vegan protein powder guide.

FAQ

Vegan protein powder for women FAQs

What is the best vegan protein powder for women?

There isn't a separate best for women. Look for high protein per 100g, a short ingredient list, a flavour you like and clear labelling. A sample pack is the easiest way to test.

How much protein should a woman have per day?

Australian guidelines suggest about 0.75g per kg of body weight for adult women. Needs are higher during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and often for older women and regular trainers. A dietitian can give you a personal target.

Is vegan protein powder safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Speak to your doctor or an accredited practising dietitian first. Needs change, and not every supplement suits every pregnancy.

Can women build muscle with vegan protein?

Yes. With regular strength training, enough total protein and enough energy, plant protein can support muscle, as it does for anyone.

Do women need to avoid soy or pea protein?

Not as a rule. Avoid any ingredient you're allergic or sensitive to. Our powders contain pea but not soy as an ingredient.

Does your powder contain iron or B12?

No. It's a protein supplement and isn't a source of B12, iron or calcium. Vegans should speak to a doctor or dietitian about these nutrients.

Is it gluten free and dairy free?

Yes. It contains pea and is made in a facility that also processes milk, soy, gluten and egg, so speak to your doctor if you have a severe allergy.

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping is calculated at checkout based on your location, and orders over $150 ship free. Orders are usually dispatched via Australia Post within 1–3 business days. See our shipping policy.

Can I try it before buying a full pouch?

Yes. The 3-flavour sample pack costs $9.99 and includes Chocolate, Vanilla and Salted Caramel.
