Myth 1: ‘It's the same as soy’

False. Faba bean (Vicia faba) and soy (Glycine max) are entirely different legume species with different amino acid profiles, different allergen considerations, and different agricultural characteristics. The only thing they share is being legumes.
Myth 2: ‘It always causes gas’
Overstated. As covered Monday, isolate-grade processing significantly reduces the compounds responsible for this, and most people tolerate a well-processed faba bean protein blend without issue.
Myth 3: ‘It's not a real protein source, just a filler’

False, and covered in detail Wednesday — faba bean carries a genuine, useful amino acid profile and is included deliberately for what it contributes to the blend, not to pad an ingredient list.
Myth 4: ‘It's unsafe for everyone’
Also overstated, but with one real, specific exception worth taking seriously: G6PD deficiency, covered in full on Tuesday. For the general population without this condition, faba bean protein is well tolerated.
Myth 5: ‘Whole faba beans and faba bean protein isolate are nutritionally the same thing’

This is the myth behind Monday's biggest post — they're processed completely differently, and that difference matters significantly for FODMAP content specifically.
The pattern across all five

Almost every faba bean myth comes from applying whole-bean assumptions to an isolated protein ingredient, or applying a soy-specific or generic-legume caution without checking whether it actually applies to faba bean specifically. The actual science, covered across this week's posts, is more specific and more reassuring than the myths suggest.
